So I haven't posted in a while, but I have a pretty good excuse: I was in Hong Kong visiting my sister who is spending her second year of university out there in China. So me, my mum and my sister went to Manchester airport and prepared, bought lots of chocolate, for our 2hour flight to Munich, in Germany. Where we had a stop over for an hour and a half, so we went and got a hot drink in a coffee shop.
We had about 35 minutes before our flight, so we set off on our way to the gate; thinking that we would get there in a few minutes and have a while to get ready. But what we didn't realise was how big the airport was, I mean it was massive. We thought we were nearly at the gate then the signs pointed down an escalator was to an underground. It then struck us, this airport was giant. By the time we got off the train we were running because all the notice boards were saying "Hong Kong(Final call)" . As we got closer a man and women ran up to us asking if we were going to Hong Kong and they started scanning our boarding cards. We then rushed onto the plane to find we were the last people to board! How embarrassing?
The flight was then about 12 hours long so by the end I was highly bored. When we got to the airport we weren't expecting my sister to be there because she was supposed to have a lecture, however when we walked out there she was with a sign saying "Thompson" "Welcome to Hong Kong". Known as the Oriental Pearl, Hong Kong remains one of the most traveled places in all of Asia, with its splendid natural beauty and man-made wonders and I can now see why.
10 must do things, whilst visiting Hong Kong:
Located on the south end of Hong Kong Island, Ocean Park Hong Kong is one of most popular local attractions. alltogether in the exibits it has two of the endangerd Giant Pandas, loads of penguines, Seals, A couple of Chinease Alligators, A Walrus and a variety of tropical fish.
The Big Buddha is a must see attraction for tourists. It is the biggest outdoors Buddha in the world.
Victoria bay is the home to one of the three famous skylines.
Afternoon tea at The Peninsular is a great opportunity to get a taste of home with their English delicacies.
10,000 Buddhas is a walk through a path of Buddhas up to a temple with more little Buddhas. As you have probably guessed from the name, in total there is ten thousand Buddhas.
Dialogue in the dark is a unique insight to the life of a person who is visually impaired.
The Peak creates an excellent view on a day with good visibility but when we went we couldn't see a thing so check the weather before you go.
The sea just off the Tai O harbour is one of the few recognised habitats for pink dolphins in Hong Kong waters. There is a local boat tour available for sight seeings which is an unforgettable experience.
Ozone is the worlds highest bar and would again have an amazing view on a good day so if your planning to go just remember to check the weather.
Hong Kong museum of art is a great insight to the traditions of their art including Chinese fine art. And Whilst we were there an Andy Warhol exhibition '15 minutes eternal' was at the museum.
All in all, we did loads of great stuff whilst we were there all thanks to my sister. But all our activity's were abit adjusted because my sister sprained her ankle a few days before we arrived or because of the weather. But now I'm back, sadly, I really miss my sister and can't wait for her to come home in the summer.
